A hippie, as in the dictionary, is a noun which means:
a youth subculture (mostly from the middle class) originating in San Francisco in the 1960s; advocated universal love and peace and communes and long hair and soft drugs; favoured
acid rock and progressive rock music.
But looking back at this movement it is more noticeable that hippies were more like a culture than
a political movement. Hippies disregarded most forms of laws and “oppression”
and took up a more defiant approach, in their words a more natural approach. This
sub-culture was, and still is, looked down upon by the higher classes because of their disrespectful clothing and views about
the government’s decision.
